Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe have been collaborating on films and large-scale architectural scenarios since 2007. They have produced several inter-connected projects that explore the connections between counterculture and industrial society. Fiction is often employed as a means of uncanny distortion in the depiction of specific social/historical environments. Their signature form of spatial collage creates sprawling sequences of interiors that turn the everyday architectural experience into a cinematic montage.
Together their exhibitions include Colony Sound, ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Denmark (2020); Marlborough Gallery, London, UK (2019); Scenario In The Shade, Museo Maat, Lisbon, Portugal and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark (2018); A Good Neighbor: Istanbul Biennial (2017), Paranoia Man In A Ratfink Room, Storefront For Art And Architecture, NYC (2016); The San San Trilogy, Art Basel Unlimited, Basel, Switzerland (2016); Artichoke Underground, Sammlung Philara, Dusseldorf, Germany (2016) and Art Basel Unlimited, Basel, Switzerland (2013); The Great Acceleration: Taipei Biennial, Taipei, Taiwan (2014) Floating Chain (High Res Toni), Marlborough Chelsea, NYC (2014); Sister Moiré, Winfield House, London, UK (2013), Stray Light Grey, Marlborough Chelsea (2012), Bright White Underground, Country Club, Los Angeles (2010); Black Acid Co-op, Deitch Projects, NYC (2009); Hello Meth Lab In The Sun, Ballroom, Marfa (2008).
